At The Real Junk Food Project Calderdale, we’re all volunteers. We need more people involved to enable us to expand our capacity and reduce even more food waste! Are you interested in volunteering?
How can I sign up?
You can fill in the short form here to express an interest in volunteering with us, and we’ll contact you to find out more.
What happens if I express an interest in volunteering?
We’ll be in touch work out the best slot for you to volunteer, based on your interests/availability and our needs at the time. We’ve found that the best way to give our new volunteers a sense of the work is to get them involved in some practical tasks straight away, so we will usually invite you along to a trial shift to get stuck in! When you feel more established, you will be invited to a volunteer induction where a member of the team will chat more with you about the project, answer any questions you have and explore how we can best support you in your role.
There’s no minimum level of input for volunteering and you can help out occasionally, or make a regular contribution. Admin, finance and publicity volunteers especially can work flexibly from home. However, for cafe and catering staff, we are particularly looking for people who can come at a regular slot each week/fortnight/month, even if it’s only for a couple of hours, as regular volunteers help us plan our opening hours for the cafe, and put on more pop-ups and events.
